Pop-Up – Movie Night – Documentary Review and Discussion
“No, I am Not the Mother”
A special event featuring a preview screening and
in-depth discussion of the upcoming documentary
“No, I’m Not the Mother”, which explores the
intimate journey of egg donation.
Documentary Synopsis:
“Sana, a young woman from Berlin, travels to
Canada to donate her eggs to a gay couple — an
act of solidarity that’s illegal in Germany. What
begins as a gesture of connection soon reveals the
hidden costs of the fertility industry. As she
navigates medical risks and ethical gray zones,
“No, I’m Not the Mother” explores how queer
families are made—and what it takes to protect
everyone involved.”
This evening, we invite you to join Sana, the film’s
protagonist and egg donor, along with the two
directors, for a deeper exploration of the personal,
medical, and legal journey behind the story. The
evening will include a 10–15 minute preview of
selected scenes and the film’s trailer,
complemented by a visual reconstruction using
high-resolution stills.
Following the screening, Sana and the filmmakers
will be available for a Q&A session to share insights
and discuss themes such as reproductive justice,
LGBTQ+ rights, and the ethical challenges in
fertility treatments
