The last day of summer! It was quite autumnal but we braved the weather with the help of mushroom heaters and sat outside.
40 volunteers who actively support the Club in various functions sat around a very long table. Unfortunately, not all of our active volunteers could participate, but those present thought of those who could not to attend, such as Thora, who, after 25 years, will no longer coordinate the Morning Book group. Mary Lynn has also given up her Exploring Berlin group. Thankfully, the group will continue with new Coordinators Inga and Monika.
All of us have a story to tell. We have kept the Club going for nearly 30 years. We put our mission into practice, to
- help members to become familiar with the city of Berlin
- promote integration into Berlin and the Federal Republic of Germany by creating and supporting cultural and mutual assistance links.
So many women have profited from the BIWC during their stay in Berlin and still keep in touch with friends made in the Club after they have left the city.
A big thank you to Diana for organising this year’s Volunteers’ Event @ the Englisches Teehaus in Tiergarten. The photos speak for themselves – when we get together, we have fun and enjoy each other’s company.
