Activity Highlights in July 2025

 

Enjoy Berlin’s high summer with us in the woods, by the water, or in a cool and colorful café. Members have access to all the events listed below. Non-members are welcome to come to our monthly meeting (first Tuesday of each month) and our Meet & Greet (22 July), as well as an English-speaking play group for parents of babies and toddlers: see the home page for details.

Tours and Talks

Tuesday, 8 July A visit to the Sculpture Workshop, booked by about 500 artists from around the world every year. The heads of the stone workshop and the metal workshop will show us around.

Friday, 18 July A day trip to Lübbenau. A boat trip through the waterways of the Spreewald, and oppportunities to sample local foods and crafts.

Saturday, 19 July An art class in charcoal drawing. Messy but creative!

Tuesday, 22 July A visit to Humboldthain Rose Garden—a romantic, secretive spot in busy central Berlin.

Thursday, 31 July A guided tour of the little castle on Peacock Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Food, Drink, and Friends

Friday, 11 July Couples Evening. A chance to meet each other’s ‘better halves’, strengthen connections, and create a warm, relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels included.

Sunday, 13 July Our annual Summer Party—Sunday brunch at the former Grunewald Forester’s lodge.

Thursday, 17 July Lunch at Brasserie Le Paris, authentic French cuisine based on traditional regional recipes

Thursday, 24 July Summer in White: an early evening gathering, with everyone dressed in white, at the Café am Neuen See, one of the most beautiful places where you can sit outside in the middle of Berlin

Friday, 25 July A late breakfast at Cafe Wintergarten, which echoes the flair of the Golden 20s, and has splendid décor from that era.

Also, under the title “Body and Soul,” a member offers a congenial evening together with a light meal, at a mutually convenient time for participants.

Wednesday, 2 July Poetry for Pleasure. Bring a favorite poem, or just listen and react to poetry in multiple languages.

Monday, 28 July The Afternoon Book Group will discuss Almond by Won-Pyung Sohn

The Film Buffs, a WhatsApp group, goes to the movies together on an ad hoc basis.

The Club has multiple Mah Jong groups that play regularly, as well as a crafts group that meets at participants’ convenience.
