Get Out and Explore
Friday, 18 August A day trip to Werder—famous for its fruit orchards, smoked fish, and other attractions—by boat from Potsdam.
Tuesday, 22 August A three-hour boat tour from Wannsee pier, proceeding past Schwanenwerder Island and Kladow to Peacock Island. The boat then passes Glienicke Palace and Cecilienhof Palace, providing marvelous views of the so-called “Prussian Arcadia”.
Eat, Drink, and Enjoy
Thursday, 10 August Fancy chilling out after a long day in the city? Enjoying a drink after a long working day, and pleasant conversation to relax in the evening? Then drop by our Casual Evening event.
Tuesday, 15 August A lunch at Nanoosh, where the food is cooked slowly with extra-virgin olive oil, fresh herbs and spices, to make every dish a balanced blend of nutrition and flavour.
Books and Films
Wednesday, 23 August The Biographies Book Group will discuss the small but important book by Temple Grandin, Thinking in Pictures and Other Reports from My Life with Autism. As a scientist, she has broken through the bonds of autism to explain how autistic people think and react.
Monday, 28 August The Afternoon Book Group will discuss Friedrichstraße 19 by Emma Harding. This novel explores the history of Berlin through the lives of the tenants at the titular address from 1906, when the Academy of Magical Arts occupied the building, until 2019.
Film Buffs, a WhatsApp group, meets on an ad hoc basis, at times convenient to participants, to go to the cinema together.
Stay Fit With Walking Groups
Saturday, 12 August A hike around the Volkspark Friedrichshain, the oldest and one of the largest parks in Berlin. We will see the Japanese pavilion with the Peace Bell, a memorial for unity against nuclear wars, as well as the famous Märchenbrunnen (fairytale fountain).
Every Wednesday A walk around Schlachtensee.
Every Thursday A walk around Tiergarten
Crafts, Languages, and Games
Wednesday, 9 and 23 August French Speakers
English Speakers, German Speakers, and Spanish Speakers groups resume in the fall.
The Club has multiple Mah Jong groups that play regularly, as well as a crafts group that meets at participants’ convenience.
