Club activities quiet down a little in December to give everyone time for holiday meetings with friends and family. But there is still a lot going on in the BIWC, from language and book groups to walking groups to lunch and evening parties.

Tours and Talks

Saturday, 6 December A visit to Schloss Britz, where a curator will give us a tour of the current exhibition on art and politics under Frederick II. We will finish up at the Britz Christmas market, which offers a festive cultural programme with magic, acrobatics, theatre, music and dance, and culinary delights.

Food, Drink, and Friends

Friday, 5 December St Nicholas party: a joyful evening at a member’s home with food and drink and holiday carols.

Monday, 15 December Lunch in Nikolaiviertel at Fischer & Lustig, which focuses on regional and seasonal home style cooking.

Book Groups

Wednesday 3 December The Poetry for Pleasure group meets to share and discuss favorite poems in diverse languages.

Wednesday, 10 December The Biographies Book Group discusses The Girls of Atomic City, by Denise Kiernan, the story of the women who helped develop the atomic bomb at a secret facility in Tennessee during World War II.

A Yoga for Beginners course is under way, with dates to be determined by participants.

Fridays, 12 and 19 December Italian Speakers

The Club has multiple Mah Jong groups that play regularly, as well as a crafts group that meets at participants’ convenience.
