Monthly Meeting

Tuesday, 5 November. Drinks and/or dinner, with opportunities to socialize with members and prospective members. No program this month, but plenty of chances to learn about the BIWC’s current activities and enjoy a pleasant evening with friends.

Tours, Talks, and Service

Every Tuesday English-speaking play group, open to non-members. This is an outreach service activity, bringing our expertise in connecting people to a group at risk of isolation: parents of babies and toddlers.

Saturday, 9 November Would you like to enhance your well-being, reduce stress, and cultivate a sense of inner peace? Join us for an enriching online event, ‘Introducing Mindfulness’.

Tuesday, 12 November A visit to SOS Kinderdorf, which looks after children who are orphaned, neglected or at risk of violence. A staff member will tell us about the organization of the International Children’s Villages as well as the problems specific to the Kinderdorf Berlin.

Saturday, 16 November A visit to the Berlin Museum of Medical History: models, graphics, anatomical and pathological specimens.

Sunday, 17 November A visit to the Käthe Kollwitz Museum in Charlottenburg, presenting the striking artwork of the first woman not only to be elected to the Prussian Academy of Arts, but also to receive honorary professor status.

Tuesday, 19 November One of our members shares memories and photos from a journey to the legendary northern boundaries of Greenland.

Saturday, 23 November The Art Discussion Group talks about the classical and neoclassical styles that developed in Europe, exploring the aesthetics and ethics of the era.

Tuesday, 26 November A fascinating tour of the “Red Island” in Schoeneberg, tracing its transformation from an area of army barracks to the home of artists’ studios (one of which we will visit).

Food, Drink, and Friends

Thursday, 14 November Lunch at the Restaurant am Steinplatz, offering seasonal-regional creations and ranked as one of Berlin’s top five restaurants for business lunch.

Friday, 29 November Enjoy a taste of the Orient at the Palace, a Lebanese restaurant which will offer you a wide range of selected specialities from the Near East as well as classic international dishes.

Also, under the title “Body and Soul,” a member offers an evening together, at a mutually convenient time for participants: “I would like to offer a space to combine a bit of inner awareness with a nice light meal, which combines my passion for cooking with my desire to make the world a little happier.”

Wednesday, 5 November The Poetry for Pleasure group meets to read and talk about favorite poems in diverse languages.

Monday, 25 November The Afternoon Book Group discusses Lessons, by Ian McEwan.

The Film Buffs, a WhatsApp group, goes to the movies together on an ad hoc basis.

Saturday, 15 November A lovely autumn hike through Steglitz and Lankwitz, through a variety of parks, each with a very different character.

Every Wednesday A walk around Schlachtensee.

Every Thursday A walk around Tiergarten.

The Club has multiple Mah Jong groups that play regularly, as well as a crafts group that meets at participants’ convenience.
